PROCUREMENT TECHNOLOGY
Transforming is a bit like piloting technology: if something fails, fail fast and move on. You need a culture where it’ s okay to experiment. The scope is massive and you can’ t address everything at once, so focus on the biggest pain points and communicate openly about what you’ ll fix today and what you’ ll fix tomorrow.
Q. WHAT ONE PIECE OF ADVICE WOULD YOU OFFER PROCUREMENT READERS UNDERGOING A SIMILAR TRANSFORMATION?
» Progress over perfection is key. Build your plan, get it approved by your key audience up and down the organisation and then just keep going. You will have to adjust and pivot many times, but progress is what matters.
Q. WHAT’ S THE TOP PRIORITY FOR YOUR TEAM OVER THE NEXT SIX MONTHS?
» The priorities stay the same. First, continuing to drive adoption of the tools and systems we’ ve deployed with feedback loops so we keep getting value from them. Second, capabilitybuilding – continuing to educate and upskill our people, with the mindset that it’ s okay if they don’ t yet know everything because we’ re here to help them grow while we help the business grow.
We are also embarking on the next phase of our journey, planning for the proposed integration with Kimberly- Clark( with the acquisition planned to close later this year, subject to regulatory approvals).
