INTAKE & ORCHESTRATION

Supplier onboarding has become one of procurement’ s most consequential moments. It is the point where risk is measured, relationships are forged and long-term value is either captured or lost. Recent disruptions have made it clear that focusing only on cost during supplier selection leaves organisations exposed. Research from Dun & Bradstreet with manufacturers and supply chain professionals shows resilience has moved to the top of the agenda, with a strong shift in nearshoring, financial stability checks, and broader risk visibility.

Alicia Heavisides, Global Product Strategy Lead, Value Chain Solutions at Dun & Bradstreet says“ What we are seeing is organisations rethinking their onboarding criteria to look beyond Tier 1, factoring in financial health, geographic concentration and operational risk much earlier in the relationship. Cost still matters, but it’ s now one of several factors, not the deciding one”.
Building the process: Speed, security and getting data right Speed and due diligence are often framed as competing priorities in supplier onboarding, but the organisations getting it right understand that the two don’ t have to be in conflict.“ The key is to be speedy with low-risk companies,” says Andrei Quinn-Barabanov, Lead Supply Chain Specialist at Moody’ s.
