The consumer goods giant has built a comprehensive sustainable procurement framework that touches every aspect of its operations, from the farms where raw materials originate to the suppliers who manufacture packaging.
A net-zero carbon mindset At the heart of Colgate’ s procurement transformation is an ambitious push toward net-zero carbon emissions. The company recognises that approximately 80 % of its purchased goods and services emissions stem from ingredient and packaging sourcing, making supplier engagement critical to achieving climate goals.
To address this reality, Colgate has embedded climate education throughout its global procurement organisation. Divisional teams now receive training on carbon targets and gain visibility into the environmental impact of materials they source. The company has also appointed climate champions within each procurement division, creating a dedicated organisational structure to scale sustainability efforts across the supply chain.
