PROCUREMENT STRATEGY
Human rights at the forefront Recognising that responsible sourcing must extend to people as well as the planet, Colgate maintains strong commitments to human and labour rights.
The business participates in the Consumer Goods Forum’ s Human Rights Coalition, supporting principles that ensure freedom of movement for workers, prohibit payment for employment and eliminate debt bondage and coercion.
These commitments translate into concrete supplier expectations. Third parties must implement their own codes of conduct referencing international human rights standards, demonstrate understanding of where risks exist in their operations and supply chains, and take active mitigation measures. For highrisk materials potentially associated with forced or child labour, suppliers must demonstrate extra duty of care.
Recently, Colgate has deepened this work through human rights due diligence assessments with agricultural suppliers to its Hill’ s Pet Nutrition division and developed a framework being rolled out across its own manufacturing facilities, particularly focused on thirdparty labor and service providers.
