The UK ’ s new Procurement Act will consolidate and simplify procurement regulations , unlocking more Social Value and helping to improve sustainability performance .
This will happen thanks to a shift in legal requirements for public sector buyers , from awarding contracts based on Most Economically Advantageous Tender ( M . E . A . T ) to Most Advantageous Tender ( M . A . T ). This means considering the community in which a contract will be delivered in order to support it , for instance by employing locally , reducing emissions , offering apprenticeships or using a local supply chain . The power of procurement is what will build a more resilient , sustainable and flourishing society for all .
