The 20th edition of the Global Risks Report from the World Economic Forum showcases the short and long term risk companies face
The 20th edition of the The Global Risks Report 2025 from the World Economic Forum shows that technological acceleration, geostrategic shifts, climate change and demographic bifurcation – continue to intensify, along with their complex interactions.
The resulting risks are growing more urgent and intricate, driving a paradigm shift toward greater global instability, polarised narratives, eroding trust and widespread insecurity. Compounding these challenges is the inadequacy of current governance frameworks to address both established and emerging risks or mitigate the fragility they create.
The report examines critical risk themes including conflict, trade tensions, technology, and polarisation as near-to-medium-term priorities, while exploring pollution, biotechnology, and superageing as potential long-term threats.
Addressing the risks anticipated over the coming decade will require visionary leadership that engages all stakeholders to forge sustainable peace and prosperity.
“ By deepening honest dialogue and acting urgently to mitigate the risks that lie ahead, we can rebuild trust and together create stronger, more resilient economies and societies”
