HOW BOEING’ S 3D SATELLITE CUT CYCLE TIMES IN HALF
Boeing has unveiled a 3D-printed solar array substrate that cuts composite build times by up to six months, providing a 50 % boost for production speed.
Michelle Parker, Vice President of Boeing Space Mission Systems, said:“ By integrating Boeing’ s additive manufacturing expertise with Spectrolab’ s high‐efficiency solar tech and Millennium’ s high‐rate production line, our Space Mission Systems team is turning production speed into a capability.”
For procurement teams, it means both a faster and cost-effective operation, as it replaces dozens of separate parts, long‐lead tooling and delicate bonding steps with one strong, precise piece that is faster to build and easier to integrate.
The technology also scales across satellite platforms, making it a future-ready solution for aerospace procurement teams.
