AI IN PROCUREMENT
Where does RPA actually work? When it comes to implementing RPA into procurement, PO creation, invoice processing, invoice matching, supplier onboarding, anything with a high degree of data entry is the classic starting point.“ The early wins normally come from repetitive, rules-based work,” says Joel.
When modernising procurement, Joel starts with a basic sequence: digitise the process, create standards, build the workflow, connect the systems and automate what can be automated.“ I do not start with the technology,” says Joel.“ I start by looking for redundancy.
Where are people entering the same information multiple times? Where is work sitting in email? Where are buyers copying data from a form into a spreadsheet, then into the ERP and then again into a tracking system? Those are usually the quickest opportunities.”
“ For me, the purpose of automation is not to replace the buyer or contracting professional. It is to remove the copying, chasing, checking and routine handling so those professionals can spend more time understanding the requirement, evaluating the market, managing risk, negotiating and making better decisions.”
