PROCUREMENT GARAGE

Léo Alexander is CEO and co-founder of Procurement Garage, a consulting firm that has positioned itself at the forefront of procurement transformation across Latin America a nd beyond. Founded by Léo and partner Paulo Esteves, Procurement Garage specialises in procurement, supply chain management, logistics and finance, drawing on the extensive expertise both partners acquired leading companies that pioneered best practices in purchasing and supply chain management.

Léo brings a unique perspective to the procurement landscape, having previously served as Senior Supply Chain Director at BP, where he developed his analytical capabilities and operational strategy expertise. His tenure there was marked by competitive procurement initiatives and efforts to break industry monopolies, while his team set new performance benchmarks through the management of complex international contracts.
Under Alexander’ s leadership, Procurement Garage has completed over 500 transformation projects, primarily in Latin America, helping organisations evolve from operational procurement functions through what he describes as“ transformational” approaches that drive innovation, resilience and sustainability. The firm has developed a reputation for delivering substantial value – often achieving savings exceeding 25 % – while fundamentally transforming teams, processes and technology implementations across offshore, pharmaceutical, healthcare and consumer goods sectors.
What sets Léo apart is his vision of procurement as a protagonist in organisational transformation, not merely a supporting function. He advocates for Procurement Orchestration – leveraging AI and emerging technologies to create competitive advantages in an increasingly complex global marketplace. His philosophy centres on the evolution of Chief Procurement Officers from business partners to“ Partners for Business” and“ Architects of Innovation.”
Léo spoke to Procurement Magazine about raising procurement maturity across Latin America, the shift toward transformational procurement approaches and his vision for best-inclass value chain management by 2030.
He explores how organisations can leverage digital technologies, AI and strategic supplier relationships to create value that extends far beyond traditional cost savings.
