Accenture’ s approach to procurement transformation illustrates how a truly global services firm rebuilt its own buying infrastructure around a collaborative sourcing platform. Revolutionising the procurement process through its strategic implementation of SAP Ariba, Accenture has created more efficient, compliant and user friendly buying experiences.

Being a global leader in professional services managing over US $ 5bn annually, the transformation began with a technical migration and rapid global deployment of SAP Ariba. Initially 80 % of the solution was deployed in 6 months, followed by subsequent rollouts over 12 months.

Accenture also shifted its strategic focus to user experience and value creation including supplier management, innovation and sustainaiblity promotion. As well as enhancing its buying experience and compliance to drive faster, more compliant and costeffective purchasing.

This shift in focus was formalised through Accenture’ s rebranding to‘ Procurement Plus’, reflecting a broader, more strategic role than traditional back-office spend management that is built on standardisation, simplification and automation.
