Nicolai earned his Industrial Engineering degree from Technical University of Darmstadt in 2004. He began at BMW AG that year, advancing through roles in Driving Dynamics, Driving Assistance, and Vehicle Development. Martin led Electric Drive Systems development from 2019, then Automated Driving and Driving Experience until 2023. In 2024, he assumed leadership of BMW’ s Mid-Size and Luxury Class Product Line, overseeing BMW and Rolls-Royce models. His responsibilities expanded to include BMW ALPINA in October 2024.
