HYUNDAI

Hyundai employs comprehensive human rights and environmental risk assessments throughout its supply chain as a preventive measure. Partnering with EcoVadis, the company evaluated all tier one Korean parts suppliers across environment, labour, human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement categories.
While suppliers exceeded global industry averages overall, they scored relatively low in ethics and sustainable sourcing. Hyundai plans to address these gaps through expanded training programmes, enhanced consulting support and on-site audits where necessary.
José Muñoz, President and CEO at Hyundai Motor Company, says:“ Even in this challenging environment, we will focus on implementing regionspecific strategies to effectively respond to varying regulations and markets.
“ We’ ll secure a stable supply chain by continuing to localise production and diversifying parts sourcing to expand market share and enhance profitability.” As a Responsible Minerals Initiative( RMI) member, Hyundai ensures conflict mineral supply chain transparency and promotes responsible sourcing. The company actively participates in RMI working groups, utilising the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process( RMAP) to validate smelter and refiner conformance while leveraging RMI’ s global network to analyse supply chain risks.
Hyundai has identified 22 priority responsible minerals – including conflict and battery minerals – based on global regulations, high-risk geographic areas, human rights and environmental impacts, and internal procurement strategies. This purchasing power extends beyond business transactions, serving as a mechanism to protect local communities by tracing raw material origins, respecting human rights, adhering to international standards, and minimising environmental and community impacts. The priority mineral list undergoes annual review to reflect evolving risk factors.
