SONY
Sony is committed to responsible supply chain management, addressing human rights, labour conditions, health and safety and environmental concerns throughout its supply chain.
The company works closely with suppliers, including mineral mining operations and contract manufacturers, to ensure compliance with the Sony Supply Chain Code of Conduct and the Sony Group Policy for Responsible Supply Chain of Minerals. These guidelines are based on the Sony Group Code of Conduct, which mandates ethical business practices by all executives and employees.
The Sustainability Section at Sony’ s headquarters leads coordination with procurement, manufacturing and management departments to promote responsible supply chain actions. Assessments are carried out not only at Sony-operated sites but also across suppliers’ operations, with a risk-based approach that includes second-tier suppliers.
Sony emphasises education and training across its supply chain to raise awareness of responsible sourcing issues. Future efforts include expanding supplier assessments, strengthening countermeasures for high-risk minerals and collaborating with industry organisations and stakeholders.
The company requires suppliers to cascade compliance obligations through their suppliers, reinforcing ethical standards and continuous improvement in sustainability and human rights practices. This comprehensive approach reflects Sony’ s commitment to building an ethical, sustainable supply chain aligned with global standards and stakeholder expectations.
