Earlier this year, General Motors announced a multi-year supply agreement with Noveon Magnetics for delivery of rare earth magnets to support a wide range of GM vehicle components – by delivering sintered NdFeB magnets to support GM internal combustion engine vehicle lines and fortify domestic supply chains.
This partnership has built a resilient domestic supply chain for critical rare earth magnets, which are essential components in many automotive products including electric vehicles( EVs).
By sourcing these rare earth magnets domestically from Noveon, GM reduces reliance on imported materials, which dominates global rare earth processing and has imposed export restrictions – enhancing supply chain stability and economic security.
