PROCUREMENT TECHNOLOGY
Mita echoes this sentiment:“ It’ s crucial that procurement aligns itself to the strategic objectives of the business and clearly defines success metrics. The most successful procurement functions will begin by asking what they’ re trying to achieve before designing the operating model, processes and technology around those objectives.”
Kevin adds:“ It sounds simple, but the organisation needs to be ready to act on the information predictive analytics delivers. Predictive analytics can inform whether something will fail or if a new part is going to be needed soon. It can’ t, however, turn that information into a better decision on its own. That part requires people.”
As such, organisations need to get the workforce comfortable using new tools. People need time to learn what the tools are, how they use them, what the purpose of the tool is, and how it fits into their job. By doing this well, organisations can drive real value through new technology.
“ Predictive analytics works best when procurement operates as part of an intelligent business operation, where people, AI and data work together,” says Mita.“ Practically, that means embedding intelligence into everyday decision-making.”
